Michel Calvet was born in Toulouse in 1956, and studied at the Toulouse School of Fine Art.
His paintings favour expression and movement. They marry the energy and force so characteristic of his spirit, with the freshness and spontaneity of an "Alla Prima" watercolour.
He explores in his work a variety of different subjects: carnivals, fishing boats, bull fights, Bayonne fetes, Morocco.. and in the process releases a particularly personal atmosphere.
Swept up in the place and the movement, almost to the point of abstraction, in Calvet's paintings forms become splashes of colour, colour recalls other forms or becomes expressionist. But whatever his handling of the subject, none of his paintings leave you indifferent.
Calvet is a true artist and a sincere man, his art in permanent evolution is never constrained by any limit. The only constraint he imposes on his palette is to plunge us into his world of light and happiness.
